Humanitarian & Compassionate (H&C) Applications, Explained Simply
A Humanitarian & Compassionate application is a request for permanent residence made from inside Canada by someone who does not qualify under the usual programs. It is discretionary: an officer weighs your whole situation rather than checking boxes.
What officers consider
Establishment in Canada (work, community ties, time here), the best interests of any children affected, family ties in Canada, and the hardship you would face if required to leave are the core factors. Every story is different, and the strength of an H&C application lives in how clearly the evidence tells yours.
Why preparation matters
H&C applications are won on documentation: letters, records, and a submission that connects your evidence to the legal factors. A rushed application can undersell a genuinely strong case.
If you think H&C may apply to you, book a consultation. We will assess your circumstances honestly and tell you whether an application is worth pursuing.
