Refugee Claim Help in Brampton

A refugee claim asks Canada for protection because you fear persecution, torture or a risk to your life if you return home. The claim is decided by the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) — and the outcome usually turns on how complete, consistent and well-documented your case is.

Since Bill C-12 became law in March 2026, new eligibility rules also decide whether a claim reaches the IRB at all. Getting advice early — before deadlines run — matters more than ever.

How we help

  • Check whether your claim is eligible to be referred to the IRB under the current rules
  • Prepare a clear, consistent Basis of Claim (BOC) narrative in your own words
  • Gather identity documents, country-condition evidence and witness letters
  • Represent you at your IRB hearing as an RCIC-IRB

Who this is for

  • People in Canada who fear returning to their home country
  • Claimants with a BOC deadline or hearing date approaching
  • Anyone unsure whether the one-year or 14-day rule affects them

Refugee Claims: common questions

Can an immigration consultant represent me at my refugee hearing?

Only a consultant holding the RCIC-IRB licence class, a lawyer, or a Quebec notary can represent you before the Immigration and Refugee Board for a fee. Meena Sharma is licensed as an RCIC-IRB.

What if I have been in Canada for more than a year?

Under Bill C-12, claims made more than one year after first entering Canada (for people who entered after June 24, 2020) are generally not referred to the IRB. You may still be able to apply for a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment. Book a consultation so we can check your exact dates and options.
